Chicken wings seasoned and baked in the oven and then coated in a home made mango habanero sauce before going back in the oven to crisp up the wings and really seal in that flavor. Stay tuned for the step by step, pic by pic, foolproof cooking instructions of these Baked Mango Habanero Wings.

Chicken wings are one of my favorite foods. Not chicken strips. Those are just adults trying to convince people they aren’t still eating chicken nuggets.
I mean real wings, with bones in them. The fact that we can pair said wings with all manner of sauces and glazes is what makes them so amazing. Want savory? Done. Want spicy? Go for it. Want sweet? No problem. Want an Asian flare? Easy. Want Jamaican jerk? We can take care of that.
We love wings so much here, that we separated them from poultry under our proteins because they need a category of their own.

Baked Mango Habanero Wings Ingredients
Chicken Wings
- 2 pounds chicken wings, drums and flats, tips removed
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon jerk seasoning
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- Cooking spray
Mango Habanero Sauce
- 1 large ripe mango, skin and pit removed which yields about 1 cup diced mango (substitute ½ cup mango nectar)
- 2-3 habaneros, seeds removed
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ cup honey plus more to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter

Leave the seeds in the habaneros if you want it extra spicy.
Preheat the oven to 400°F
Then split the wings between the drums and flats and discard the tips:

Clean and then pat dry the chicken wings with a paper towel
In a large mixing bowl, combine the seasoning under the chicken wings subsection of the recipe ingredients:

Add the wings to the bowl tossing to coat:

Place the seasoned wings on an oven-safe wire rack in a single layer.
Bake for 40- 45 minutes, flipping halfway
Use an instant thermometer to determine doneness. When the chicken wings show an internal temperature of 165F remove from the oven:

This wings right now are phenomenal.
Feel free to sample one or two (I did!)
Prepare the Mango Habanero Sauce
Add all the sauce ingredients except the butter to a high-powdered blender. Blend on high for 1 minute, or until smooth

Place a saucepan over medium heat and then add the butter to the pan.
Once the butter melts, pour the blended mango habanero sauce into the pan.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally with a rubber spatula.

Taste and adjust, adding more honey to reduce the spice level.
Indeed, I like to add about 2 more tbsp of honey to the sauce.
Remove the sauce from the heat.
Scoop out ⅓ cup of the sauce and set aside for a dipping sauce.
With the remaining sauce, coat the chicken wings then place the mango habanero wings back in the oven for up to 8 minutes to caramelize.
Once done, serve and enjoy.
Furthermore, we highly recommend some ranch or blue cheese dressing to offset the heat a bit.

Baked Mango Habanero Wings Summary
Sweet and spicy wings is the best of both worlds for me. This is one of those iconic duo of flavors that I absolutely crave from time to time. The best part of this, you don’t have to go to a wing joint to get these. Most big grocery stores have all these ingredients and the prep and cook time is less than an hour. That’s not a lot of time when you are Jonesing for some mango habanero wings.
