In this simple cinnamon roll pancakes recipe we pop a can of cinnamon rolls, place each one on a hot griddle (or in a skillet) and flatten them into pancakes. Brown the cinnamon roll pancakes on each side and serve either with the provided frosting, syrup/butter or get a little silly with drizzles and sprinkles.

Truth be told, breakfast is my favorite meal. I know, one would think the guy that founded GrillinFools.com would be all about dinner and massive hunks of meat, and I do love that, but I love me some breakfast more. When I grew up, my dad worked 6 days a week and Sunday morning breakfast was a special time. We made a big meal with all the fixins, indeed. And my favorite breakfast item is also a pancake, but a savory, potato pancake made with mashed potatoes.
In the mean time, once breakfast is over, can I interest you in a light lunch of air fryer chicken wings or a warm, filling dinner of individual and pretty easy chicken pot pies?
Cinnamon Roll Pancakes Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 cans of store bought cinnamon rolls
- Wax paper or parchment paper, optional but highly recommended
- Spatula
- Burger press, optional
- Butter
- Syrup
- Drizzles
- Sprinkles
I cooked these outside on a plancha, which is Spanish for iron, but is also the word for a flat top or griddle.
Although, these are even more easily cooked inside in a pan or a counter top griddle.
Needed Equipment:
Let’s talk about the gear that is needed and recommended. All you really need is a spatula, er, turner. Turner sounds dumb. Pancake flipper? You know what I mean. This is needed to both flatten the cinnamon rolls into pancakes and to turn them over.
Second, wax paper is not needed but highly recommended. The sugar in the cinnamon roll pancakes is really sticky. More on that below
Finally, a burger press works wonders on flattening out pancakes and burger patties as well as a steak weight to get better grill marks.
How to Prepare this Cinnamon Roll Pancakes Recipe:
Get that griddle/skillet to medium high heat (around 400F +/-25F) and pop that can of cinnamon rolls:

Then lay the cinnamon rolls down on the hot griddle/skillet and flatten with the pancake flipper or burger press:

For this cinnamon roll pancakes recipe, feel free to make the pancakes as thick or as thin as you like.
Aaannnddd here’s why that wax paper is highly recommended:

Also, the cinnamon rolls are sticky!
Thus, I had to use that pancake flipper to scrape each one off.
The goal here is to get some browning on each side:

Pro Tip ~ Do not walk away from these.
Obviously, all that sugar will blacken quick if you step away from these for very long

That’s it.
Finally, layer on the butter and syrup for the traditional pancake accoutrements.
Optionally, slather on the icing that comes in the cinnamon roll can.
OOORRR, if you really want to put a smile on those kids faces, set out the bottles of drizzles and some sprinkles.
Such as these chocolate and caramel drizzles:

Or maybe some strawberry drizzle and sprinkles:

Cinnamon Roll Pancake Recipe Recap
This is recipe so incredibly simple and will blow the minds of your family. Show me an easier way to make cinnamon pancakes. No batter, no drips, no mess. My kids absolutely love these, and with four rug rats in my house, there is a healthy debate as to which toppings are the best. Isn’t it time you hash that debate out yourself?

Great idea! I’ve seen canned cinnamon rolls thrown into the waffle iron but it never occurred to me to squish them into pancakes/ French toast!

Lisa,
Yeah, when I first heard of it, I was kicking myself for not inventing it!
